Anne Donovan
On Thursday,
23rd of February 2006, Anne Donovan came to visit the
Creative Writers' Group. We were privileged to take part in her
workshop, as she is a very famous Scottish writer. The books she has
written include a novel; "Buddha Da" and a collection of short
stories; "Hieroglyphics".
Anne had two
tasks for us. The first was that we had to pick a green card, on
which was written a type of shoe. We had to describe both the shoe
and the person who might wear it. We threw ourselves into this
writing task. Then we wrote about the person who would be least
likely to wear or own that shoe.
Our second
task was to partner with another group member, to write a dialogue
between our two characters. Each pair of writers selected a pink
card from Anne's pile, and were given the task of incorporating the
phrase on that card into the dialogue we were writing.
We really
liked having Anne for the afternoon, and hope to see her again soon.
