Sociology

This Higher, for S6 only has proved very popular since its introduction a few years ago.  Generally the only entry requirements are a pass in Higher English and an open mind.  Previous study in a social subject such as Modern Studies is not necessary.

The course consists of a variety of study areas, which are examined in an SQA exam in three sections.  These are:

Section A

Short response questions on the nature of Sociology, Sociological Theories and Research Methods

Section B

One compulsory essay on either Class or Education (so both are studied)

Section C

One essay from a choice of four, two of which will be studied

 - Wealth and Poverty

 - Crime and Deviance
