Standard Grade Homework / Personal Study Requirements

Homework and personal study both play an important part in the development of your knowledge and practical skills, and will take a variety of forms depending on the particular options you are following. 

This will include the regular practice of your performing skills, revising concepts, and ongoing work on your composing, as well as formal written exercises.

Performing involves practising and playing music from a variety of styles and periods, using standard musical notation.

Regular practice will be necessary on at least one instrument – two instruments, or one instrument and voice, for the Performing route.

It is recommended that you spend some time practising every day.

Ongoing work towards the completion of your folio.

Preparing a score or performance plan, and working on your programme note.

Listening involves developing a deeper awareness and perception of a variety of musical styles and concepts.

Regular revision of concepts and musical literacy studied in class.

Completion of written homework assignments for each topic covered

Sound Engineering involves producing a stereo mix of contrasting pieces

Ongoing work towards the completion of your folio.

Maintaining a session log and revising the Sound Engineering concepts.
