AIM OF COURSE
To ensure that all
pupils have the opportunity to create, perform and respond
positively to music; and to encourage all pupils, throughout the
whole range of ability, to realise their musical potential.
COURSE CONTENT
1st Study
Performing, 2nd Study Performing, Inventing and Listening
are the four elements which form the framework of the course.
1st and 2nd
Study Performing
Performing will
involve performance on two instruments or one instrument and
voice. Pupils will perform music from a variety of musical periods
and styles.
Inventing
Pupils will develop
musical discrimination, expression and sensitivity to sound; and
will be encouraged, through improvising, composing and arranging, to
produce their own musical inventions.
Listening
The Listening element
concentrates on developing a deeper awareness and perception of a
variety of musical concepts and styles. Pupils will listen to a
wide range of music including classical music, Scottish Music, Jazz
and other popular styles.
ASSESSMENT
1st Study
