Homework
Brief Description of
Course Two compulsory units, “Cell &
Molecular Biology” and “Environmental Biology”, and one optional unit
“Animal behaviour” are studied.
The course involves theoretical and practical
components.
The practical component involves an independent
experimental Biology Investigation in an area of the pupil’s own choice
Type of Homework
Researching and writing up the project for SQA purposes.
A variety of homework tasks are set including writing and
preparing extended response questions (essays), completing
problem-solving questions and doing past paper problems.
Questions are issued for each sub-unit completed in the
theory part of the course.
Frequency
Pupils are expected to write up experiments and project
work as it is completed.
Each pupil is issued with a set of deadlines for the
various parts of the coursework at the start of the year.
Independent research and study are developed as part of
Advanced Higher Biology.
The Scholar programme (on-line) is available to all
Advanced Higher Biology students for independent study and revision
