S2 Biology

AIM OF COURSE

To encourage all pupils to take a keen interest in the many aspects of Biology which relate directly to themselves, and to develop an awareness and understanding of their wider environment so that it may be protected for all to enjoy.  The course provides a suitable grounding for both Standard Grade Biology and Standard Grade Science.

COURSE CONTENT

The course incorporates a balance of content, problem solving and practical work, allowing pupils to develop their Knowledge and Understanding (KU) and Investigative through Experiments (IE).  The units studied are : "The Need for Food", "Reproduction" and  "Water & Waste". 

ASSESSMENT

Progress is assessed using summative end of unit assessments at Levels D, E and F.  These assessments indicate the level achieved in S2 Biology.  Separate levels are awarded for KU and IE.
