Brief description of the principles/rationale of
homework for
HIGHER ADMINISTRATION
The course covers all aspects of the administration
function of organisations. It provides students with the opportunity
to apply skills and knowledge to given situations requiring a high level
of skill using Microsoft Office Applications and knowledge of
administrative services and to analyse the use of ICT in an
administrative and business context. The course places an emphasis on
the development of problem solving and decision making skills. Much
of the course is IT based and therefore involves working on computer
systems in class. If students have access to a computer at home they
can enhance their skills by transferring files home for self-study
purposes. No formal homework of practical skills will be required.
Most homework will involve the reinforcement of knowledge and
understanding of the Administrative Services part of the course and will
involve either written exercises, reading of case studies in preparation
for class discussion or study in preparation for assessments.
Type of homework
·
Formal written exercises to assess knowledge and
understanding from topic units contained in each area of study – every
1-2 weeks.
·
Preparation for NAB assessments – every 4-5 weeks
·
Self-study if able and appropriate to enhance skills
developed in class using ICT applications.
Frequency and expected duration
Frequency as indicated above. Each formal written
exercise should involve 10-15 minutes preparation per night over 2-3
nights followed by 20-30 minutes final completion time. Revision time
for NAB assessments should be self-determined as should the need for
personal development of ICT skills particularly in periods preceding
assessments. |
