Administration
Why
Administration?
The practical
approach used in this course, developing basic ICT skills, makes it
an excellent preparation for any career which involves the use of
ICT equipment. You will learn to carry out administrative tasks and
acquire skills in communication, team working, customer service and
skills in numeracy and finance, and organisational, problem solving
and management skills.. These skills will help to develop your own
personal effectiveness.
Entry to the
Course
This is at the
discretion of the school but you would normally be expected to have
attained one of the following-

Standard Grade
Administration at General level
·
Intermediate 1
Administration units or course
or
·
Standard Grade
English at General level.
Course
Outline
The course is
made up of three units.
Administrative Services
In this unit you
will gain knowledge and understanding of the administration
function:
·
the importance of
administration in business and customer service
·
factors affecting the
administration of businesses (eg legislation)
·
how administration can
help all of the departments in a business
·
how the internet and
different office technologies are used
·
procedures for
arranging and paying for business travel and accommodation.
Information Technology for Administrators
In this unit you
will learn how to solve problems and present the solution by using
appropriate software packages
·
word processing
·
databases
·
spreadsheets
Administration: Presenting and Communicating Information
This unit should
enable you to
·
use internet, e-mail,
e-diaries and presentation software to present and communicate
information.
Core Skills
There is no
automatic certification of Core Skills or Core Skill components in
any of the Units.
Assessment
The course is
assessed by a combination of internal assessment carried out by the
teacher and an external examination, set and marked by the SQA.
