Administration
Why
Administration?
The practical
approach used in this course, developing basic ICT skills, makes it
an excellent preparation for any career which involves the use of
ICT equipment. You will learn to carry out administrative tasks and
acquire skills in processing, sorting, checking, storing and
outputting information in a modern organisational environment. These
skills will help to develop your own personal effectiveness.
Entry to the
course:
At the discretion of the school but students
should be able to demonstrate basic communication skills.
Course
Outline
There are three
compulsory units in this course –
Administrative Support
You will learn
to

deal with the basic
administrative tasks carried out in a business
·
help arrange business
travel and accommodation
·
contribute to the
health, safety and security of the workplace.
Information Technology:
Office Applications
You will learn
·
computer skills such as
the use of modern business administration software packages
·
how to use electronic
methods of communication such as the Internet
Word Processing
You will develop skills in
·
using the keyboard
·
producing simple
correspondence
Core Skills

Assessment
This course is
assessed both by an external SQA examination and assessment of
course work in school/college by the teacher in accordance with SQA
guidelines.
